Article voiceover
I have never truly cared about my looks
Al I was ever shown were the importance of books
We were told, “knowledge is power”, and “never count the hour”
The hour glass can cook
With time that is, that’s why they say “She aged like fine wine”
It was never about the immediacy
It was always about seeming well served
Deserved you mean, because I remember when I though I was reserved
But silence can still creep
It can seep into their minds
Souring like onion rinds
Capable of healing, but hyper fixated on peeling
Peeling back the layers of who, what, when, where, why
How high must I fly before I catch your eye
Your sight without vision, I hope you make the right decision
Because choosing looks, over books has never been about precision
Reading this was already a personal experience, but hearing the author’s voice in the voice over completely changed the tone, it added a layer of intimacy and intention that I didn’t catch when reading it in my own voice. Beautiful work!
